3 Ways to Shorten Acrylic Nails at Home
Preparing to Cut Acrylic Nails
Method 1: Using a Nail File
Use a 180-grit nail file to file down the length of your nails. Hold the file perpendicular to your nails and file in one direction only. Avoid sawing back and forth, as this can weaken the nails.
Method 2: Using Nail Clippers
If your nails are very long, you can use nail clippers to shorten them first. Cut the nails straight across, leaving about 1/4 inch of length. Use a nail file to smooth out any sharp edges.
Method 3: Using a Dremel Tool
If you have a Dremel tool, you can use it to shorten your acrylic nails quickly and easily. Use a sanding bit and start by sanding down the tips of your nails. Gradually work your way down the length of your nails, taking care not to overfile.
